At Poseidon we follow the regulations set by the PADI federation regarding the form and content of the course; confined water from the beach and open water from the boat. Our courses are very complete, with all the necessary exercises to offer you the best training and we have more than 50 years of experience behind us.

Poseidon is located in one of the most beautiful coves of the Costa Brava in Calella de Palafrugell, Port Pelegrí, where we have direct access to the sea, ideal for families who want to relax on the beach and enjoy a sensational meal in the Fiego restaurant. Our seabed is one of the most appreciated internationally for scuba diving, due to its biodiversity, its conservation and the excellent visibility during the summer season.

In our scuba diving courses, we want you to be comfortable, to feel that you are living a unique experience in a small and familiar atmosphere at all times, together with your instructors and companions. At Poseidon, we do not believe in mass tourism, but rather, in personalised and exclusive experiences.

OUR HISTORY

1969

Poseidon Nemrod Club (as our diving centre was originally called) was founded at the beginning of 1969 by Germans HORST LINDNER and RUDIGER PACENA, who came up with this idea in Greece and Yugoslavia, where they worked as diving instructors, and thus became the second diving centre on the Iberian Peninsula. Together they created an international network of centres with a presence in Germany and Thailand, and other places around the world (including some bases in locations on Spanish soil).

1970

Shortly after, Rolf Eckert joined the team, who fell in love with the place on holiday and took over the technical side of the centre and the school. Always in love with the sea, the Poseidon team carried out various activities related to the sea. They were even the ones who found the famous Roman ship “Les Illes Formigues”.

1978

During his time at Poseidon, Rudi often walked along our coasts and showed the seabed of Calella to hundreds of clients from all over the world. He was in command of the “Joaquín” (’70-’79), the “Fdo y Manuela” (’78-’87, until it sank for the second and definitive time after a terrible storm) and our beloved “MS-Poseidon” (’89-present).

2001

In 2001 Gerard Palou, in love with the sea and its underwater mysteries, joined the staff and this is where his story as a sailor and diving guide began. He spent several years acquiring experience in the world of scuba diving and captaining the boat “Poseidon”. Gerard soon became the new director of the centre.

2007

In 2007, Pecu Rivas, originally from Patagonia, Argentina, and a great fan of mountain sports, took over the management of the scuba diving courses.

2012

So it was that in 2012, Gerard and Pecu took a step forward and decided to buy the diving centre. Thus began a new stage, which lasts until today, for our historic and beloved POSEIDON DIVING.
