How does the PADI Open Water course work?

The PADI Open Water Diver Costa Brava course consists of three main phases. Additionally, you can earn academic credits for this course.

The course includes six theoretical modules that you can follow online at your own pace. You will learn about:

  • Breathing underwater
  • Pressure management
  • Dive planning
  • Using diving equipment

Our instructors will be available to answer your questions and help you master these concepts before moving on to practice.

🤿 Practice (Part 1) – 4 confined water dives in Port Peligrí

You will start with 4 confined water dives, from Port Peligrí beach on the Costa Brava, where you will practice basic exercises such as:

  • mask clearing
  • regulator recovery
  • and buoyancy control

🤿 Practice (Part 2) – 4 open water dives in the Costa Brava

You will complete four boat dives (open water), applying the skills acquired in confined water, but at greater depth.

These sessions will allow you to explore the seabed of the Costa Brava while strengthening your confidence and competence in diving.

How long does the Open Water Costa Brava certification last?

The PADI Open Water Diver course has a minimum duration of 3 days.

Each day, there will be one dive in the morning and another in the afternoon.

OWD courses during high season are usually held:

  • from Tuesday to Thursday
  • or from Friday to Sunday.

In low season, the days can be adapted due to more availability of schedules.

By obtaining your PADI Open Water Diver certification, you will be able to dive independently up to 18 meters deep.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to continue your training with advanced certifications like the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

Conditions and Requirements

  • Be at least 10 years old
  • Be able to swim
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Have a medical certificate of fitness for diving or complete the medical questionnaire before starting the course.
  • Not be pregnant.
  • Not fly within 12 hours after the activity.
  • No previous diving experience is required.
